The story behind the green Trackman
Every April, the golf world turns its attention to Augusta, Georgia, and a tournament defined by tradition, pressure, and a certain shade of green.
But in 2020, a new tradition quietly took root.
It started when some enterprising Trackman employees asked our CEO, Klaus Eldrup-Jørgensen, why we weren’t making green Trackman units for the champion.
We knew right away that we had to make it happen.
When Dustin Johnson won that year, he also became the first player to receive a custom green Trackman. Not as a giveaway or promotion, but as a recognition of a life-changing moment.
Since then, the tradition has continued.
Hideki Matsuyama in 2021. Scottie Scheffler in 2022 and 2024. Jon Rahm in 2023. Rory McIlroy in 2025. Every one of them was already part of the Trackman community, having put in the work long before that special Sunday at Augusta National.
“That’s what makes this meaningful,” says Eldrup-Jørgensen. “These players didn’t discover Trackman when they won. It’s been part of their process and preparation for years. The green Trackman is simply our way of honoring that journey.”
It’s important to be clear about one thing: We don’t give away Trackman units. Never have.
Each of these players purchased their own device. And when they receive their green Trackman, their original unit is traded in, refurbished and put back into circulation — continuing its own journey with another player somewhere else.
Over time, the tradition has taken on a life of its own.
Winners from before 2020 have reached out to ask if they, too, can add a green Trackman to their collection. The answer is yes — with one condition: They must already own one.
As Masters week returns each spring, so does the anticipation. Not just for the first major of the year, but for who will join a growing group of players whose victory is now marked in green.
“Winning the Masters is one of the most important accomplishments in golf,” adds Eldrup-Jørgensen. “We’re proud to play even a small role in helping players reach that level. The green Trackman is our way of saying we see the work, and we respect what it took to get there.”
