Must-play Courses: July edition
Asia’s growing influence on golf — now ready to explore in VG3
Golf’s footprint in Asia has never been bigger. Once considered a niche region for the game, it’s now one of golf’s fastest-growing markets — home to marquee tournaments, world-class venues, and a rising wave of players making their mark on the world stage. Think Hideki Matsuyama’s Masters win, the recent success of Japan’s Mao Saigo and Thailand’s Jeeno Thitkul, and big-time tour stops like the Zozo Championship, HSBC Champions, and LIV’s expanding Asian schedule.
But you don’t need a tour card — or a passport — to experience it. With Trackman Virtual Golf 3, you can step inside some of Asia’s most iconic courses, each recreated with stunning detail for a fully immersive indoor round.
This month, we’re heading east to spotlight three very different tests: a classic track that’s crowned Hong Kong Open champions for more than half a century, a vintage seaside masterpiece in Japan, and a fictional short course that blends Tokyo’s energy with the calm beauty of its gardens.
Ready to see why Asia is shaping golf’s future? Let’s tee off.
Tokyo Gardens: A par-3 cityscape delight
Imaginary Tokyo, Japan
Difficulty: 1/5

Our latest fictional city course brings the heart of Tokyo to life — featuring nine picturesque par-3s framed by cherry blossoms, shrines, bonsai trees, and sweeping views of Mount Fuji and Tokyo Tower. It’s relaxing, photogenic and ideal for all skill levels.
Fans of London Gardens will love this new option for a quick warm-up or wind-down. And while you’re giving Tokyo Gardens a go, here’s a question to consider: What city should we tackle next?

Hong Kong Golf Club (Composite Course): Precision under pressure
Sheung Shui, Hong Kong
Difficulty: 3/5

As one of Asia’s most historic championship venues, Hong Kong Golf Club has been testing the world’s best for decades. The Composite Course — stitched together from the Eden and New Courses — is a tight, tree-lined challenge where accuracy beats raw power.
Legends like Rory McIlroy, Tom Watson, Greg Norman and Padraig Harrington have all lifted the Hong Kong Open trophy here, proving that patience and precision are the keys to winning. In VG3, every narrow fairway and tricky green is rendered with lifelike detail, making it a shotmaker’s dream.
Kawana Hotel Fuji Course: Coastal drama on a vintage canvas
Shizuoka, Japan
Difficulty: 3/5

Built in 1936 by C.H. Alison, the Fuji Course is often called “Japan’s Pebble Beach” — and for good reason. Perched on a rugged plateau above the Pacific, it blends coastal winds, sweeping views, and Alison’s trademark steep-faced “Allison bunkers.”
Add in undulating terrain, korai-grass greens, and dramatic elevation changes, and you’ve got one of Japan’s most storied and scenic tests — now captured in VG3 so you can experience its myriad challenges from anywhere in the world.
